I love the New Year. It feels like a blank canvas just waiting to be filled with accomplishments and the art of life.
Every year, I start the year out with great intentions. I’ll be chugging along losing weight, going to the gym, working on finances. You name it. I’ve probably had it as a goal. Then the inevitable happens. I make a choice not to go to the gym. I have a hard day at work and decide that cake looks pretty awesome right now. I get derailed and fail to get back on the train that can take me where I want to go.
I’ve realized, over the years, that while I’d like to fill in that blank canvas all by my lonesome, I’m more of a Wine and Design kind of gal. I like to have the plan drawn out. I like to have mentors and teachers along the way who can give insight on how to reach my goals. I like to have the support of others because it’s hard to reach your goals without it. I also like to kick back and enjoy my accomplishments, no matter how big or small. And, if the inevitable happens and I make a mistake, I adjust and keep moving forward.
This year, make it your best year. Figure out what you need in order to reach the goals you set for yourself.
Need a plan for success? Create one. Set your big goal with smaller actions that will help you reach it.
Need a mentor or teacher? Find a book or blog to learn from. Better yet, find somebody who has already reached your goal and connect with them. You’d be surprised at how many people are willing to help.
Need support? Enlist the help of a friend or family member who can be your accountability buddy. This works wonders, I promise. Find a community of people trying to reach the same goal like a forum or Facebook group to help bounce ideas off of and get support.
Celebrate any and all movements toward your goal. And (this is most important) if you get off track, hop right back on that train. It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s not okay to give up.
I’m excited about this year. I know why I’ve set the goals I have set for myself and I’m committed to reaching them. How about you? What goals do you have for yourself? Share them here or on our Facebook page so we can all support and celebrate together! Make this year your best year ever.
